History & Benefits
Pilates was originally devised by Joseph Pilates as an effective workout for everyone, regardless of their age or fitness level. Pilates has many benefits and uses the body’s own resistance to improve muscle tone, flexibility, and posture. Some classes use resistance equipment to add a further challenge to the low impact workout, for example pilates rings, bands, balls, light hand weights and foam rollers.
Pilates & Sports
Pilates and Sports go hand in hand. Whether you are a keen golfer, runner or an aspiring concert violinist, Pilates is an excellent technique to support your performance. All exercises can be tailored to your individual requirements and can complement your normal training program. If you are recovering from injury, Pilates is often recommended by Physiotherapists, Osteopaths or Chiropractors and Doctors for injury rehabilitation and prevention. If needed, we can work with your medical practitioner to ensure you are getting the most out of your Pilates class.
Pre & Post-Natal
Gentle exercise is recommended both during pregnancy and in the post-natal period. Pilates will help you to improve muscle strength, posture, flexibility, and tone in your body. This will help to keep your body in a good physical condition in preparation for giving birth or for bringing your body back into alignment and tone after childbirth.
